On December 5-6, GRTSC’s Peter Alegi played in the Maryland Subbuteo Club‘s 22nd edition of the Holiday Silver, probably the most prestigious event in the U.S. subbuteo calendar after the Nationals.
On Saturday, participants from Maryland, Virginia, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Idaho, Minnesota, North Carolina, Florida, and Michigan competed in events sanctioned by the American Subbuteo Association. Daniel Cranston and Paul Eyes won the Open and Veterans tournaments respectively. Alegi placed 9th in the Open and 3rd in the Veterans.
On Sunday, Alegi and national champion Zach Walker—playing as “Midwest Squared”—won the Team Challenge in a shootout against Florida. In the last event of an intense weekend of flicking, Walker defeated Cranston to claim the Knockout Cup.
